Polarizing topics on social media (Not being Over-Zealous Like Zeniff)

Not Being Over-Zealous Like Zeniff
How do I not get over-passionate about polarizing topics on social media?

Social media is a funny thing. In only a few moments after getting on we can become extremely passionate about a topic that we didn't even know existed only minutes before. How do we deal with such a flood of information and sometimes flood of emotions? How do we navigate what to fight for when there is so much worth fighting for out there.

The Love of Many Shall Wax Cold (Internet Addiction and Pornography)

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold.

15 years ago I read this scripture much differently than I do now. Our current culture which is partially now online gives much more insight and meaning to the scripture above. There are probably a few meanings to this scripture but every time I read this sign of what is to happen before the Savior's return I think of both internet addiction and pornography.

Overcoming stumbling blocks like Sariah

Once in a while we hit stumbling blocks, things that make us stumble. But as we work through our stumbling these blocks can actually solidify our faith.

A stumbing block for Sariah
I have been thinking a lot about Sariah lately and the struggles that she went through.

In the past I thought of her lightly and even a bit judgingly as she questioned Lehi, the prophet and his visions and the guidance that he had received. But now as I have examined her situation my respect for this woman has grown immensely as I consider her vital role in saving her posterity from bondage and death and traveling to the promised land.

Her greatest struggle in the beginning turned out to be what solidified her faith to endure what was needed in order to truly save herself and her family and lead them to an amazing physical and spiritual inheritance. She would later have children in the wilderness, endure starvation and almost die because of the neglect and hardness of the hearts of her Elder sons but her faith and resolve landed her family in the promised land.

Jesus fed 5000- Mourning with those who mourn

3 Ways of Mourning With Those Who Mourn

The problem
Sometimes I feel inadequate when trying to help those that mourn or comfort those who stand in need of comfort. It can be hard to know what to offer when we have never experienced another person's type of loss.

Someone is Waiting

Someone is Waiting
In the “38 Random acts of Kindness” post I referred to an experience of knowing that the Lord can lead us to people that need our help. This is that experience.

A prayer inspired by a story
When my husband and I were first married we lived in a small apartment in Pleasant Grove. One day I was seated comfortably in my armchair reading stories from the Ensign. One story in particular seemed to prick my heart. It was a story about a visiting teacher who listened to the spirit and was inspired to drop by another sister’s home at a crucial time of need.

3 Ways to Receive Answers From the Lord and 1 Way Not To (A Lesson from the Brother of Jared)

An important question seemingly unanswered
I remember spending many hours on my knees after my now husband asked me to marry him. I prayed harder than ever and I felt like my prayer was met with silence. I did not have a stupor of thought, I knew what that was like and it was not the same but why did I not get a clear answer? Wasn’t this the most important decision of my life and possibly eternity? Why did I not receive guidance? Didn’t the Lord promise that if I knocked he would open? Why had I clearly received answers to such trivial things in the past but I didn't have an answer for this. After hours on my knees a thought came to my mind and my question was answered with a question.“Do you want to marry him?” I searched my heart and my answer was yes.

The Truth About My Dad the Cop

The Truth About My Dad The Cop

Since there is a lot of discussion about police officers right now I’ve decided it is time to come clean and unveil information about my dad a cop that may reveal the nature of his character and that of other people in uniform that are so freely criticized.

Why did Jacob see Jesus?

Sometimes I write blog posts that are more rambling thought and I never publish them. This is one that I stumbled back on and I found it i...
